Mail Payment Change and Update

Mail Payment Change and Update

January 13, 2026

The U.S. Postal Service has modified how postmarks are applied. If you are someone who mails payments or time sensitive documents, please take this change into consideration.

The USPS postmarks will be applied at a regional sorting center (rather than at drop off), which can be days after it is dropped off.

Many of our carriers use the postmark date to determine if a payment is received late. With this change dropping off mail the day it’s due could be considered late- triggering late fees or cancelations.

You have a few options:

-Use the online payment system for payments on their due dates

-Visit the post office and request a free, hand-stamped manual postmark if the due date is approaching

-Mail your time sensitive documents and payments several days before the due date

-Use a trackable mailing or delivery service

Many carriers offer a discount for automatic payments, please reach out to us if you’re interested or would like more information.
